A YEAR OF BLOGGING // What I have learnt

There is one thing that you don't get to do very often, and that is to reflect. Every year comes with the good and the bad, but it's the great things about every year that you hold, cherish and keep in your memories forever.

A year a go this month, I started this blog. When I created this space on the internet, I did not know what was going to happen. It was just somewhere I could write down all my thoughts, feelings and passions. In the first few months, I thought 'how could I make this more me?' so after much trail and error, spending hours in front of the computer screen, I managed to create a layout that I loved. Even to this day, I still make changes to it every month through more experience and knowledge about blogging.

When I first discovered BlogLovin', that's when things really changed for me. I did not realise how big the blogging community really was and how many blogs there really are. When I first realised this, I did get a bit overwhelmed. I thought 'how am I ever going to be as good as them?'. The thing I realised that you shouldn't worry about anyone else and don't try and be like anyone else. Make your blog the way you want to have it and create content you want to write, it will make a massive difference.

That is definitely one of the things i learnt this year, so much has changed in just a year. 'Genevieve's Life Blog' has changed positivity through improving in the content I create and what content should be posted when, the photography for each blog post and how vital having pictures is, it attracts the audience and it makes each post more inviting to your reader and being able to manage social media and emails. I even went to my first ever blog event this year, which was just so exciting and it made me feel so much more involved in the community which was once a strange thing to be part of a year ago.

I felt like a small fish in a big pond, every one was so much more experienced that me and had been blogging for years, but at the end of the day, you don't know what things are going to be like if you don't try.

A year later, I have over 1000 followers on Bloglovin, which I never thought was even possible. I only people always say that and it sounds really cliche, but it doesn't mean a hell of a lot to me as this blog means everything to me. I put so much time and effort into it every week and I hope it shows.

I can't thank my readers so much, for all of you who follow my blog, who all who read it, comment on my blogs and just generally show their support, I can not thank you enough!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and I hope 2015 brings you all that you wish for.
